Done for you services = very happy freelance writing clients

Want to learn how to get paid to write? Want a sure-fire way to make your freelance writing clients come back for more?
If you’ve ever run a business, you know that at any given moment, there are about a thousand things you feel like you should be taking care of. (Of course, if you’re building a team and a good system for delegating, you can escape the prison of compliance!)
Business owners are always learning new ways to market, online and off-line – and they KNOW they’re “supposed” to be doing… more. It’s a vague sense of being under a pile of ideas and tactics, of guilt because it’s just not getting done, and also of complete overwhelm because there’s just not another minute they can wring out of the frequent 80-90 hour weeks they’re putting in.
Yet, if they don’t get busy marketing their business (especially online), they’re going to land square in the middle of a slow-down. Constant marketing is crucial to keeping a steady cash flow.
So, think about what ELSE you could do for your clients to make them succeed. What if you also offered article submission services in addition to writing articles? Same thing for press releases. What if you could learn to build simple websites for internet marketers? What if you learned how to use Squidoo? Knol? Hubpages? What if you could help them with building a presence on the social networking sites?
And all they’d have to do is sign off on it? (Whew! Can you feel them relaxing a little? See a little start of a smile?)
I’ve listened to quite a few calls with Kelly O’Neil, who specializes in teaching business owners how to market to millionaires. Makes sense – why would you market to people who “can’t afford” your services? It’s a little adjustment – but if you market to business owners who already spend money on writing, you’re a lot more likely to land gigs than if you try to persuade a business owner of the value of your services when they think they’re doing just fine handling all their own writing, right?
One thing that’s hot with the affluent market (and business owners in general) is something called Done For You services.
Let’s look at articles for an example.
Instead of having the client do the keyword research, come up with topics, and have to remember to tap you to write articles each month…
What if you did the keyword research (you can learn this!), you created an editorial calendar for the quarter or year, you suggested titles, and once approved, you wrote without being reminded? You could even offer submission services, including account set-up, and submit the articles once they’re approved.
Two things would happen:
1. You’d probably have a client for life (as long as you do a good job and they don’t have to babysit you!), and
2. You’d be able to boost your fees.
Success is all about learning what they need – and making yourself someone who can deliver it to them… so life is easier for them.
